The current Invictus event in Star Citizen, which already has a number of vehicle and ship demos, has prompted CIG to reveal two new vehicles for the game: the Drake Mule freight carrier ground vehicle and the RSI Scorpius heavy fighter starship.
The Mule is strictly for transporting stuff, having capacity for six cargo boxes in its present form, while a forklift in the front and a cradle in the rear will allow it to tote bigger cargo crates once SC’s cargo rework is implemented. There hasn’t been much fresh information on the RSI Scorpius since it was initially shown last year, however it is now a flyable object.
Both of these vehicles will be available during their respective segments of the Invictus free fly event, but fans can see them in action in the video below.
Long-time MMORPG fans may recall that Star Citizen was initially Kickstarted in 2012 for nearly $2 million, with a 2014 release date scheduled. It is still in an unfinished but playable alpha as of 2022, after raising over $450 million from players via years of ongoing crowdfunding and sales of in-game ships and other assets. It is presently the most crowdfunded video game ever, and it has been met with unwavering support from fans and skepticism from detractors. Squadron 42, a co-developed single-player game, has also been frequently postponed.
